A Hat Tip to Entrepreneurs
When you look at the biggest problems our world faces (resource constraints, energy, health, economic issues, etc.), who has the best chance at solving them?
Who are the ones we can look to (or become) to really move the needle?
I’d say entrepreneurs almost every time.
Look around at some of the biggest companies…
Elon Musk with clean energy (Tesla).
Sal Khan with education (Khan Academy).
Patrick & John Collison with online transactions (Stripe).
All addressing huge problems through entrepreneurship.
I would define an entrepreneur as anyone working to turn an idea into reality.
(And let’s add creatives, storytellers, and intrapreneurs adjacent to this as well – all helping to shape a better tomorrow).
Aside from certain political and government policies, entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to solve big problems. And the great thing is, almost anyone can become one. All you need to do is decide, start and act on your vision.
Easier said than done, of course. But statistics show there are over 31 million entrepreneurs in the US today.
10% of the entire population.
This is of course coupled with the well known “9 out of 10 startups fail” stat.
But 10% average isn’t bad considering that number is malleable.
It’s entirely up to you to build the skills, network, and capacities to move that as close to 100% as possible.
Which is exactly why we started The KINN.
We want to shift up the average success for conscious founders – those who truly care about improving the world through business.
And it’s only through collaboration that we can truly solve hard problems.
It’s why we have talks from successful founders, provide access to funding, and place such a high emphasis on networks and community.
The world needs more entrepreneurs. And because we believe they’re made (not born), we’re going to do our best to encourage more of them.
So I’d love to ask you, what was the point you knew you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Reply here and let me know. I’ll share some responses in the next newsletter.
Cheers,
Oliver
